Our recipes have travelled the world to get to you.

Come, take a voyage with us, that intertwines flavours, cultures, and the beauty of shared experiences.
We journey from Goa, an Indian paradise, to new beginnings in the heat of Kenya.
A serendipitous meeting in Scotland takes us to the hustle and bustle of London Town.
As destiny carries us across the vast seas once more, we find solace in the tranquility of Dunedin, and this is where our Tartan Sari story begins.

Amongst the treasures we carried were our secret family recipes, passed down through generations, refined and perfected along the way. Each bite filled with tradition and love.

Living in NZ and craving the tastes of home, Danielle began cooking the recipes passed down from her mother’s family. She gained immense joy recreating these recipes and was inspired to continue the pickle business her parents, Louisa and Ron, began in London over 30 years ago. The sharing of these traditional flavours gives Danielle a strong sense of reconnection with her ancestors and invokes fond childhood memories enjoying meals with her family and the local Goan community.

Like many migrants, she has adapted to her surroundings by utilising what is abundant in New Zealand. Instead of Aubergines she uses Zucchini, instead of Mangoes she uses Apples or Apricots.

Sugar, salt and oil levels have been reduced where possible without compromising on flavour or tradition, and all fruit and vegetables are NZ-grown and processed at their seasonal best. As much as possible is organically grown and locally sourced in Otago.

With a name that celebrates both her Scottish and Goan heritage, Tartan Sari honours the legacy of her parents love, innovation and hard work.

Tartan Sari is wowing New Zealanders with delicious, unique flavours that add excitement to everyday meals.

You can find Danielle and the complete range of spicy pickles and curry pastes at the Otago Farmers Market every Saturday morning.

Or head to the online shop, you wont be disappointed.
