Spicy Burger Patties
When I was a child my mum would fry little patties of meatball mixture so that I could ‘taste test’ the flavours and let her know if anything was missing, before she cooked her famous Meatball Curry. I loved these patties so much that as an adult I adapted them into larger burger patties. They will really spice up your barbecue game, and of course can also be used as a base for Meatball Curry!
Ingredients
1 onion, very finely diced or grated
3 cloves of garlic and equal amount of ginger, peeled & crushed
1-2 teaspoons Sorpotel Curry Paste
1kg minced meat (you could try lentils or plant-based meat and whizz the mixture up in a food processor)
1 & half teaspoons of salt and a few grinds of pepper
2 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
1 egg
1 cup of breadcrumbs
A large handful of fresh coriander or other herbs, finely chopped (optional but highly recommended)
Method
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Add more breadcrumbs if mixture is too wet and won’t hold together. Refrigerate for 30 minutes and then form into patties. Or you can use the mixture for our Meatball Curry.
